Industrial equipment depends on hose to transfer steam for heating and sterilization, compressed air for tools and pneumatics, water for cooling and wash-down, chemicals for process reactions, and food-grade media for production lines. Our steam hose is built to EN ISO 6134 Class 1 and Class 2 with oil- and heat-resistant EPDM inner tubes rated for 232 deg C (450 deg F) and 18 bar (260 psi) saturated steam. Air and water hose uses NBR or EPDM inner tubes in 1/2" to 4" sizes for 10-25 bar service. Chemical hose is offered in EPDM for general acids and alkalis, FKM (Viton) for aggressive solvents and aromatic hydrocarbons, and PTFE-lined for the broadest chemical resistance. Food-grade hose uses FDA-compliant compounds with smooth white inner tubes and sanitary tri-clamp fittings for dairy, beverage, pharmaceutical and food production.

How To Specify Hose For Industrial Service

Industrial hose specification must consider the conveyed media, the operating temperature, the regulatory environment and the expected service life. A hose specified for the wrong media or temperature fails quickly and can contaminate the product or injure the operator. Below is the engineering approach we apply when helping factory maintenance departments and EPC contractors select hose for industrial applications.

1. Identify the conveyed media: Steam, compressed air, water, acid, alkali, solvent, food product or pharmaceutical media. Compound choice follows directly from this - EPDM, NBR, FKM, PTFE or FDA-compliant rubber.
2. Determine operating temperature: Steam hose must withstand 232 deg C; hot water hose to +125 deg C; chemical hose may need low-temperature flexibility down to -40 deg C. Select compound rated for continuous and peak temperature.
3. Specify pressure rating: Industrial air and water typically 10-25 bar; steam 18 bar; chemical 10-16 bar; high-pressure process service to 40 bar. Add 25% safety margin.
4. Choose reinforcement: Textile braid for general industrial service; steel braid for higher pressure and steam; steel helix for suction service; multi-ply textile for chemical and food.
5. Specify compliance: FDA 21 CFR 178.2600 and EU 1935/2004 for food; USP Class VI and 3-A for pharmaceutical; EN ISO 6134 for steam; EN 559 for welding gas. Confirm at quoting stage.
6. Match couplings: BSP, NPT, JIC, camlock, Bauer, flanged for industrial service; sanitary tri-clamp for food and pharma. Coupling material (steel, stainless, brass) selected for the media and cleaning regime.
